Media Center on the Xbox 360

Media Center is an in-built feature of Windows Vista Home Premium, Ultimate, and XP Media Center Edition 2005, which is only available pre-installed by certain PC manufacturers.

With Media Center Extender, you can now enjoy your Media Center experience anywhere in the house, with an Xbox 360 simply through a Home Network connection and a Media Center Extender. Using either the Media Center remote, or the Xbox 360 Universal remote, you can navigate your way to watching recorded TV, listening to music, and every other feature that is included within the Media Center program.

Also, you can in fact connect as many consoles that your computer can hold (average of 5) to Media Center. Each Xbox connected to Media Center is given a unique id, meaning that each console can stream different media from the PC.

However, Media Center PC has to be switched on for the extender to function, and that the files are not copied from the computer to the Xbox.

*This feature is also available for XP Media Center 2005 as stated in Update Roll-up 2.
