Vista in October?

Microsoft seem to be sticking to their September deadline for Vista to be RTM (Released to Manufacturers) despite a lot of criticism over it seeming to 'rush' the critical last few months of development. We're also expecting RC1 (Release Candidate 1) on 7th September, and a final release mid-to-late-October.

As for the silent-but-deadly Longhorn Server, Beta 3 is expected in 2007 Q1, RC1 in Q2 and a final release around Q3.

I myself have warned Microsoft about the dangers of wrapping up Vista purely for PR reasons, rather than it being finished to the point of perfection. We have waited this long, don't give us something thats crappy for the sake of a couple of months. However, if they think they can pull it off, I trust them - and if Service Pack 1 is in the pipeline for next year, we'll simply wait for that.
