Price for Office Beta

Microsoft have announced that they will begin charging .50 for downloads of the Office 2007 beta, starting Wednesday. Current users of the Office 2007 beta will not be charged for updates.

The high volume of downloads is to blame, with over 3 million so far being more than six times what was expected. The fee for the beta is to offset the cost of the downloads.

"This is the first time Microsoft has charged for an Office beta, and it's not something that is planned for on a repeat basis,"

If you don't fancy paying, you can still test drive the software online for free.
